• A damp sponge and water should remove most stains and spots, for extra stubborn spots try using a very small amount of dishwasher detergent as well

The greatest real threat to the life of your paint, especially in a moist climate like Texas, is mold. High levels of humidity accelerate the growth of mold. Mold growth also thrives especially well in moist rooms of the home such as bathrooms and the kitchen. If you find mold growth early, you can easily treat it yourself, which is why being aware of the paints condition is so critical.

If you discover mold growth, you can treat it by cleaning the area with four parts water one part bleach solution. This solution should stop the growth of mold across a small area but if the growth has become too extensive you may need a professional to assess the damage and treat the area. Often times extensive mold growth on the surface means there is even more damage that can’t easily be seen.
